What Are Piano Lessons Like in my studio?
I think learning music should be fun!
Kids love music. It’s a big part of their lives.
So why is that sometimes kids “hate” piano lessons?
Maybe a few reasons. Practicing can begin to feel like “more homework.” And if they struggle to remember what they “learned” at their lesson … if they’re going home “not ready” to practice the songs they’re learning … they can easily feel defeated and frustrated.
How My Lessons Are Different
My approach is a unique “accelerated” program using modern and proven learning methods - making my studio truly one of a kind in our area.
My students meet with me for 1 hour each week and practice under my supervision. Because of the extended time they have here at the studio with me, my students move through their books at a “faster-than-average” pace.
I call this style of teaching “Accelerated Piano Lab” (APL) and it is especially designed for 6-12 year olds.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when you tap into a child’s natural curiosity and sense of exploration. By encouraging children to have fun and relax at the piano, I remove the common roadblocks that prevent them from reaching their full potential.
MORE REASONS TO CHECK OUT MY STUDIO:
Students get all the benefits that science has shown piano instruction provides, including increased academic performance, higher IQs, etc. And it’s all done in an environment that’s encouraging and positive.
Students have the opportunity to learn music that they love and are familiar with. They are able to select their favorites…songs from their favorite TV shows, movies, radio, religious, holiday music etc.
Students will learn sight-reading and steady rhythm from day one so that they are prepared for playing all types of music.
Students have the time and personal attention necessary to learn the majority of their music here with me so they feel energized instead of lost and confused when they get home. Practice will feel easier.
Lessons move quickly, and are broken up with the use of games that help students learn and retain “music theory,” rhythm, and note reading.
Students learn in the traditional skills and methods of piano, however, because of my approach, the majority of my students stay with me through the completion of the beginner/intermediate book series (usually 8 books).
